In the science fiction novel ‘Little Brother’ by Cory Doctorow, teenager Marcus Yallow and his friends are caught in the wrong place at the wrong time when a terrorist attack strikes San Francisco. In the aftermath, they are wrongly detained and mistreated by the Department of Homeland Security. After his release, Marcus is determined to fight back against the invasive surveillance and control the government has placed on the city. Using his tech-savvy skills and with the help of other rebellious young people, Marcus launches a guerilla cyberwar against the oppressive security forces. As he evades capture and spreads the truth about the government’s abuse of power, Marcus becomes a symbol of hope for the citizens of San Francisco.
