Dr. Frankenstein is forced by his first creation, the Monster, to create a mate for him. Dr. Frankenstein, tormented by guilt for his previous actions and stress of the task, creates a female creature. The monster’s bride, horrified by her mate, rejects him, leading the Monster to anguish and destruction. The novel examines themes of loneliness, rejection, and the terrible consequences of playing God.
