At over a thousand light years from Earth, the planet of Moss is home to a species of intelligent aliens known as the Drome. Due to their fear of infection and the technology of the earthlings, the Drome have quarantined themselves from all humanity. As a small group of humans led by Captain Dix and a team of diplomats and scientists, navigate the delicate negotiations with the Drome, the crew member learning and adapting to the alien culture. However, the crew faces sabotage from a radical faction of humans who believes that the Drome are a threat to humanity. As tensions rise and betrayals occur, the fate of both species hangs in the balance. Learning the World: A Scientific Romance is a thought-provoking narrative that explores the complexities of human-alien relations, the impact of fear, and the importance of understanding and empathy in intergalactic diplomacy.
