Gideon the Ninth, written by Tamsyn Muir, is a tale of a necromancer and her swordswoman cavalier. Gideon Nav, a swordswoman, hopes to escape the life of servitude in the Ninth House. However, she is forced to help her nemesis Harrowhark Nonagesimus, a powerful necromancer, in a deadly, cosmic trial of skills and wits. In the First House, these two will face ghosts, deadly puzzles, and their own tangled pasts, under the haunting, watchful gaze of the Emperor.
